Stress Prevention Through Resilience
It’s International Stress Awareness Week, and never has there been more of a time, certainly in my lifetime, than now to check in with our stress and resilience levels.
I don’t know about you but the word ‘stress’ makes me feel stressed at the moment (insert volcano head emoji here!). Stress is a very personal feeling, we have our own unique reactions to it and it’s created by many external and internal elements, from Covid, the weather (external) to imposter syndrome, lack of preparation (internal), and everything in between.
However, for many of us a small amount of stress can be useful, it can motivate us to get into action and get tasks completed. It can also make us feel alive and excited. But finding the balance can be very challenging and our bodies, minds and emotions can all be very negatively impacted by stress.
But how can you use your resilience to prevent stress?.....
In the spirit of my ‘back to basics’ mentality I’ve discovered that regardless of the subject or topic, if you break it down in to more manageable chunks it’s just that……more manageable 😊
Like Resilience, if you break it down into your physical resilience, your mental resilience and your emotional resilience, you can focus on particular elements of it, rather than the whole, and sometimes overwhelming knot that needs some serious untangling.
If you’re aware of what you need to keep your resilience levels at a steady level you can become proactive when it comes to managing stress, you create and understand the strategies that you need when the signs of stress start to show up, and therefore prevention really is possible for you.
So, remember, everything starts with you, make a lifelong change by focusing on your stress levels and your resilience needs.
