What’s love got to do with it?

If you know the fabulous Tina Turner and this iconic song, I hope as you’ve read the title of this week’s blog you’ve belted out the rest of the chorus!! 🤩

As its Valentine’s Day I thought I’d take a twist on the commercial hype around buying ridiculously priced flowers, sweating in the card shop when we’ve forgotten to get a card or queuing in M&S for the valentine’s special ‘dine in’ meal only to find there’s nothing you like left.

My twist?....well it is all about love, but it’s all about SELF LOVE!!

I’ve asked the question ‘who is looking after HR?’ for the majority of my HR career.  We provide care, support, kindness, empathy, attention, time, nurturing and more when working in the HR profession, all of which I believe are ingredients needed in any relationship.

But what about the relationship with ourselves?

How much time and attention, support and care do you give to yourself? Some, a little, none perhaps?….

Once you’ve asked this, explore what you could do for yourself to increase perhaps your opinion of yourself, do you make fun of yourself, talk yourself down instead of up? Create some affirmations to say out loud while looking in the mirror.

Take some time and create a loving space of self inquiry, yep you’ve got it for yourself 😊

This Valentine’s Day, give yourself a huge hug, give yourself love and accept all the love that anyone wants to shower over you today, even if Valentine’s Day isn’t your thing.  Any day that makes us in HR stop and consider how we can show ourselves more love can only be a good thing 😊 so let’s get into a really healthy habit of spreading our HR love over ourselves 😊

And if you want to go the full hog and buy yourself the perfect gift of how much you love yourself, feel free to arrange a free 30-minute call with me to discuss how to increase your self-love, self-esteem, self-awareness, and self-confidence.  You are the biggest gift you can give yourself ❤

Much love always, not just on Valentine’s Day 😊
